Guests for supper

Eight guests stopped by for a quick bite.
This last one had to stand up to get his bite.

Nice to see. What are the bushy trees they are feeding on? Some kind of cedar?

 

Doesn't appear as though they are going hungry.

 

All does? Or any bucks that dropped antlers yet?

 

They are lucky the were not supper.

The ones that look like giant mushrooms are globe arborvitae. The last pic where the one was on its hind legs is some kind of cedar. The globe arborvitae were really good looking for years. A nice round shape at least 7 feet tall. We had a bad winter and the deer decided they were good to eat. We just trimmed off the sticks they left and called it a day. When we moved into this house over 40 years ago, those globes were so small our boys could jump over them. They were 6 and 9 when we moved here.

 

Couldn't tell. Talked to my neighbor and he thinks the bucks may not have dropped their antlers yet.

 

Holy smokes what do yall feed those things? We have decent sized deer here, and they have plenty to eat, but a few of those deer are actually plump! Bet they'd be tasty!

Most have not here yet either, as of last week at least when I saw the local 8 pt. Had a doe at the house earlier tonight. A local weathercaster posted a picture of a buck with 1 dropped antler a couple weeks ago though. This guy lives in my same town.

 

Those are healthy looking guests.

 

While cleaning up in the kitchen this morning, a deer was bedded down in the woods just a few yards away watching me. It just laid there for 15 minutes before getting up and walking away. Too dark for pictures.
