That pretty much sums up my experience with them.

Well 2 pallets of LaCrete (1.2 ton each) and 1 ton pallet of Corinth are tucked away in the garage. I tried the new ownership Corinth product as I am being told that they are 80% softwood and the product last year was pretty good. Its a gamble but my dealer let me know that a bag that broke open this year had very light colored pellets-like a softie, We will see. Right now they are still factory wrapped and will stay that way until I get the ambition to get them into the basement-that usually doesnt happen until fall. :emb:

Jay, which AWF pellet were you hoping for, and does your TSC have them? I have never seen them in my area, although I have researched them in the past. According to their website, they have two varieties - hardwood and softwood (bag says "ultra premium white pine"). Guessing you have probably burned both in the past?

You will most likely get hardwoods .TSC ships from mills that are close to keep the costs down .

Your profile says central NH. Does that mean north of Concord? I'm just east of Manchvegas and was wondering where you got Corinth in your area.

I haven't tried the softwood version. They only had the hardwoods at Barkhamsted store. I was hoping they got some of the softies so I could try them, But still haven't seen them in my area yet.

Yeah that's nowhere near me. I'm just eats of Manchvegas and last year I bought most of my pellets from Benson's Lumber in Londonderry. they carry the MWP blend for $250/ton w/ a $10 flat rate delivery charge for as many tons as you want. Their prices are the same this year as they were last year. Pretty hard to beat.

Dave is at 240 on the MWP which would offset some of the delivery charge if I went with those. I was going to get a ton or two of the MWP but really wanted to give the Corinth a try. The LaCretes are for the coldest part of the winter for me.

The majority of pellets I burned last year were the MWP and they seemed pretty decent. I have a modulating boiler and it may be more forgiving than some stoves but I have generally heard good things about the MWP blend from others. I think it's an 80/20 hardwood/softwood blend if I recall correctly.

$240 a ton seems like a pretty decent price for them.

I've always heard it was a 65/35 blend, but their recipe may have changed over the years. I've burned a lot of them and they're a decent pellet at a decent price. A long way from what they were in the beginning. Worst pellet I've seen when they first started.

You may be right. I may be misremembering the ratio on MWP and confusing with another brand. So is the MWP blend your go to pellet now? they're certainly on the more affordable side of things.

I burn mostly MWP and FSU. Last year during the shortage, my local HD got in a lot of AWF which spoiled me because they are a really nice burning pellets with not a lot of ash. Then they got in some Blazer's and I managed to get my hands on 30 bags of those. I burned 1, just to see. Probably one of the best pellets made in North America. So with all that spoiling, I splurged and bought a ton of LaCretes which was delivered today. I'll buy another 3 tons of MWP and FSU in Sept. Not sure which one I'll buy 2 of yet. Probably the FSU because I still have 20 MWP.

You love them La Crete's! Excellent pellet IMHO!!

I too was spoiled with the AWF and I'm gonna be bonkers if I can't get any this season. MWP do fine, But I would prefer the AWF for the same dime.

Those AWF were excellent last year, FSU as well. My plan is now that I am fully stocked, is to buy throughout the year if I see something good at the boxes. Hoping for the AWF or FSU.....or maybe I will run into Blazers like I did last year :p:dancer:

I was so jealous of you all that found Blazers last season. Who would have thunk during a shortage, A box store would import pellet gold.

Actually the last time I saw Blazers and Heartlands was during a shortage back in 2001/2002. HD brought in the Blazers and Agway brought in Heartlands. HD kept the price the same, But Agway raised them to cover freight charges. I didn't care as it was all I could find and I :dancer:a wee bit too!

Me too. They did seem to burn a little faster for me, but a really nice affordable pellet. Wish I could get more.

I know youre doing the bypass, but what else didja find that was bad? Is it the old chain drive model, or the newer UL feeder?
