1/3 of shed and winter gone

almost exactly 4 10ths, (counting rows) or 40% for me. Usually by New Years I’m touching the 6th row.
Having said that, this is my first year burning pine and spruce on the shoulder and I’m not counting that.

I agree your shed nice! I will have to got get another 1/2 or 3/4 cord to wood deck in March but it’s dry and stacked out back when it’s above freezing

I'll get the saying out a few days early this year. Old timers said " You should have half your wood and half your hay at Ground Hog Day"

 

I was hoping to use enough wood to make space for the monster oak I hauled home this past summer, guessing it was 3 cord. I don't think I got there yet.

 

I the smoke from the picture from an OWB? Or do you have an indoor stove.

 

So what do you do if you burn a lot less? Don’t cut as much the next year?

 

If that's the case I'll be fine. I have over 3 rows left at the patio.

The next decent day that is but after, I have to use my split jig to shorten a couple of long splits that I apparently couldn't measure properly 3 years ago. That will give me a good day or 2 more that I'm not even counting on.

Starting next year, I'll be able to tell exactly how much I've used since I'll be only pulling from my wood shed from now on.

 

We have had very mild temps for the entire heating season so far. The coldest temp I've had here was -19. There have only been a few times of temps below zero. And the snow we've gotten so far has been a joke as far as a normal winter goes!

LOL, am in the same boat. I come across splits I processed few years back, not sure what I was thinking but somehow they made it into the stacks. All I can do is shake my head and laugh at myself when I come across one. I know better now, lesson learned I make sure most everything is short enough to fit.

 

I'd like to think I learned my lesson on that, but I'm sure I'll find more that are too long.

If you're finding yourself shortening splits, make a jig. They are super handy. I use mine more than I should.

 

I will certainly looks into that, thanks. I rounded up a bunch last summer into a pile and used an old chop saw to shorten them. Put the leftovers in the smoking wood pile

I'm screwed. I'm down to my last 1/8 of my firewood. I do have more but it's out in the snow. I've gone through almost 5 cords since late October.
