Anybody who doesn't believe in PPE are fools. This is my near miss from yesterday. Steel toe, of course. Ended up filling it in with liquid electrical tape and boot toe protector goo. FWIW I've got a pair of chaps to match. They work!
I did that one time with a brand new pair of Sorel's with felt liner the saw went thru the toe into the felt never touched the foot. I was sure it had because my foot was soaked I was almost afraid to take off the boot was happy to see no blood an experience I'll never forget.
Good to have the gear on. A few weeks ago I cut a large maple limb up at work. I had steel toe boots, chaps, gloves ear and eye protection. Co-workers thought it was kind of funny and a bit overkill, but when they saw how well the saw cut with a sharp chain, they said nothing except how serious I was about wood cutting.
This was my Wake Up Call for Chaps. I already had a Helmet with ear muffs and visor, plus steel toe boots I was cutting on a hillside, and the footing wasn’t as solid as I thought it was. Didn’t touch skin, but could have ended very badly for Huskyman I have had others kind of grin, when I “Suit Up” out in the woods, but we are often (as we were that day) miles up a Forest Circus road, without cell service, something like that could easily be “Game Over “ before help could get to us. I have a very well equipped First Aid Kit, my Brother in Law is a Fireman/Paramedic, he “Built” it and gave it to me as a Birthday Gift, I have more than I would know how to use, especially if I am the patient Doug
