Looking for suggestions on a battery back up to run stove until I get the generator running. I usually like to order from Amazon .

Running (3) Cyberpower 1500 AVR UPSes here: Pellet Stove, Entertainment Center, IT in Office (DSL Modem / Routers / Switches / etc. ) ... (1) older APS BackUPS 1500 handles workstations, etc. in office.

Do the new UPS units still have that annoying alarm when the power goes out.

I ran APC on my servers and all computers in my construction office. The ones connected to the servers would talk to the server and do a safe shut down in the event of power failure. The APC units worked great and battery replacement was easy but needed done about every 3 years.
One thing I learned regarding surge protection, they don't protect against a close lightning strike.
    That took a different animal.
Maybe they have improved the technology.
Size the UPS based on as long a duration as you can afford. The batteries degrade over time.

Yes, but I think there's an option to shut it off.

^^ Yes, both Cyberpower and APC allow you to turn off the alarm.

The CP1500PFCLCD unit (stove hooked up) runs for about 75 minutes without issue.

It usually takes about 20-30 minutes to get the portable generator checked, gassed, hooked up & the house switched over, which is why I went w/ the 1,500 VA units here.
