Used to have one of these at the cottage. It wasn't in as good of shape as this one, but it was still in great shape. I have no idea what happened to it or where it went. Man, I wish it was still there!
I remember Old Bohemian $0.89 a six pack of 12 ounce, $1.09 for 16 ouncer. Used to buy a six pack of Schlitz to drink first then switch over to "Old Bo" it made it bearable Is that where the saying " Mabel Mabel get off the table the two dollars is for the beer " came from?
I just thought of another beer we drank occasionally Canadian Ace it came in half gallon bottles for $0.89. Made you pee and gave you a headache.
Found kinda the same with the guesstimate at $650.00 Keep looking. 262: Plaster Bosch Beer Hunters Advertising Figure. - Feb 09, 2012 | Dan Morphy Auctions in PA (liveauctioneers.com)
I’ve tried those. Stopped real quick. They mess up my stomach and give me some real vivid, weird dreams
After my father died, everything that wasn't in the will was put on a list and we all picked out certain things. Most of the stuff we already had so his grandchildren got what they wanted. Anything that wasn't taken would head to the dump or anything good brought to St. Vincent de Paul per his wishes. We did the dump runs and the one thing that was never taken was this Blatz Clock which I couldn't toss so I brought it home. I was telling my brother about it which surprised him, he didn't look over the list that good and I could tell he wanted it so I brought it to him in 2017 at his summer party, the thing was in great shape and still works. The picture below is from the net.
I am sure it went the way of the garbage collection years ago. You see, we have someone who married into the family that will throw stuff out that way. There are a number of stories to tell about that one.....
Back on topic, I pay about $55 for a case of tall boys as my regular beer. That’s $43. It’s a craft beer so pretty good price. You guys in the States have some nice mass market beers that aren’t too expensive and still good. Yuengling is great. But my fave is Shiner Bock...speaking of Texas Germans.
Back when I lived in Boston, every SuperBowl party we'd do the "Malt Liquor Review". A double-blind, double-elimination taste test of the 8 'finest' malt liquors we could find. Our buddy from PA lobbied to get Steel Reserve into the tourney, mostly by promising it was so terrible it wouldn't survive a single round. He was right. The only thing worse was St. Ides.
Shiner Bock is great. They also make a "texas heat wave" pack that has 2 really awesome beers, the mango kolsch and peach wheat that are amazing. The strawberry blonde smells good, but isn't a home run like that other two. Great summer warm weather beer. I like Yuengling lager, but compared to Point special lager its definitely not as good, and it costs more than Yuengling. Pretty soon you'll be able to buy Yuengling here in Wisconsin and other states West of Indiana since they are expanding the breweries that make it. I'll also say that the Yuengling Oktoberfest is probably their best product.
Meister Brau was my go-to college beer. If I remember, it was around $10 out the door, with $2.40 of that being MI bottle deposit. Blatz and Hamms were closer to $13 with deposit. Used to do the cheap malt liquor back in the day. We’d buy random bottles of the cheapest crap we could find along with a couple 40s of decent beer, throw them in a cooler and pick with your eyes closed. Drink what you pick was the rule. More often than not I ended up with Colt 45, Golden Anniversary or some other horrible swill that I’ve tried to forget. 30 packs of Busch and Busch Light are around $19 here last time I bought one. That’s summer beer for me. I’m still working on a 15 pack of Founder’s from almost a month ago.
