I have not only heard that but observed it as well. I have posted a couple of times over the last few years about this phenomenon and various theories but get answered with ridicule and answers about drying underwater etc, etc. Regardless of any mockery, and in the right conditions, I still think there is some truth to this.
I have to agree. I guess if you lived in Seattle or something it would maybe make sense to cover it but I have never had wood rot or not season in a couple 2-3 years time. I believe the wind is most important followed by the sun and unless you live in a real wet climate covering is optional.
Thought I would revive and update. headline is it worked ! The oak that is closest to barn has an average of 12% less moisture than the oak on front. Now wishing the barn was about 4 times as long so I could take more advantage of the radiant heat off of it.
