A coworker let me know about some oak logs he spotted by the curb in his neighborhood. I was quick to jump on it as the scrounging has been slow lately. Nice clean logs that were annoying cut to 36” (I cut to 16” normally). So I decided to cut rounds to 12” shorts. They will be a pain to stack but they will season a little faster and those short chunks are great in the solostove.
Half cord load of red and white oak "longs" i delivered yesterday. Mostly 18-20". I dont cut to that size but scrounged logs that size and left them as such. I never stack in the bed either but needed to "measure" a half cord.
Lord had favor on me fixing the pickup Friday night. Was thankful to be able to drive out and css today!
Half cord load of mostly red oak with some white oak i delivered yesterday. Woman was so happy by the volume she tipped me $20. "I've been getting ripped off with the other loads ive bought" Never fails. As soon as we get our first cold spell, phone rings. Few days of "Normal" January temps here....teens at night and low 30's during the day.
I love splitting in squares or rectangles. So nice looking, nice to stack and imo more surface area to dry quicker. I hate knotty stuff after being spoiled with nice straight live oak.
Good! One of the benefits of being on the young side. Thanks Brad! also hauled a 1/3 cord to a good buddy in the snow tonight. He was about out. Kinda fun as we normally don’t get snow in the valley but once a year, sometimes not for a few years at a time.
Good job! My stepson had the furnace go in the house he lives in. Has an insert that they use on occasion. Had to bring him some wood while it snowed last night.
