Have a friend who has a nursery that lives 5 minutes from me which is halfway to my moms house where I do all of my firewooding. He calls me up and says he took down some maples do I want the wood? Sure I say. Today I head over there with my saws and dump truck as he did there’s a good amount and a few he didn’t cut. I ran the saw for about 20 minutes then he started helping me load, which included his tractor and bucket for the few decent sized ones (but nothing over 18” diameter). In a little under an hour and a half we have it all loaded up. Yep, a nice little afternoon scrounge.

Looks like some nice rounds. Great score there JR!

All ready for the splitter or some left to buck? Was it sugar, red, Norway?
    Sugar maple rounds are HEAVY!

    EDIT: i see some Norway.

All but a handful of small pieces ready for the splitter. It’s a 50/50 mix of red and Norway

What's the story with the trunk? Will that be yours also?

Nice scrounge and a better friend. I like the dump truck. Guess I'll add that to my list. You know, the list we all have to help us hoard firewood so we can burn to save money.

It’s kind of big and twisted. If he asks I may take it but would prefer not to

I’ve had that truck for 11 years now and it doesn’t owe me a cent. It’s hauled a lot of wood!

Really nice score and friend. That will be nice to run through the splitter. Are you going to dump it or split rigbt off the truck?

It’s already dumped. Needed to come back home and I don’t like leaving it loaded for extended periods

I understand that. Lot of weight on it. Log lift on the splitters will make it easy
