I've got a cord of Oak in my dump trailer to deliver, & one more to go at $250.00 per. Problem is it was for next year, so it's not dry. Guy's got an owb, but I told him Oak is gonna be wet, he still took it over some lesser woods I have that while not dry would be better at least. I sold out last month.

It’s funny how some people only want oak, and they usually burn it wet!

We are getting very low too. Maybe 1 1/2 cords of oak left that's not spoken for. It's funny how people forget that winter comes every year. We dis have a few customers order early. And have picked up a few new ones too...
Still have some oak and hickory to process, just finding time to do more than a few hours at a time is the problem.

...........the doctor's kids are always sick ..............the shoemaker's kids go barefoot.... ......no sense fixing the leaky roof when the sun is shining!

Every year, starting in Sep, you'll see a scramble of more trucks/trailers hauling firewood on the roads!

Update on my original post. Got a text from my mia customer. They had chimney issues and had a liner installed last winter, so they didn’t burn last year. Delivered a load this morning, and have another 1/2 cord order. Now I’m sweating whether we’ll have enough ready to burn to make it to April.

Hope you have enough, what about shorties and chunks...
We had a MIA customer too. They got a trailer load in '18, hadn't heard from them since. Then they called the other day. That's where the last trailer load went.

I have some in my stacks, usually on top, but not enough to keep my stoves fed. I have several cords of dead ash and cherry that I split this summer/fall I could cover now. That’s probably what I’ll do, so I can be ready for more sales.

I just got a call from a lady who was a good customer for me, buys two cords and I had not heard from her. Turns out, last winter was so mild, she didn't burn that much. So, she hasn't left me, ordered two cords! Which puts me in a bind because I am low. And she requested "your best seasoned wood." I can do but now another friend wants more. I will have to hope that some dead standing trees will suffice. $240/cord, less if they come get it.

I spoiled this lady years ago when she got absolutely primo red and white oak, mostly barkless, straight grained. Gorgeous wood, looked like lumber! Was that way because it came from real big rounds that provided many splits/round. The first load I just delivered her was not near that pretty, but it's even length and ready to burn. Hard/impossible to get around here, especially late in the season.

I tell all of my customers if they don’t get wood wood from me by November, I won’t have any. I do not hold wood for anyone anymore. Been left holding it until the following season or stuck trying to deliver in the snow. It’s up to them to plan, not me.
