I have my eyes on a ms462 or a 572xp or...MS500i. But for the Stihls they only sell the Woodsman case in Canada which is too small.
Not having a case isn’t the end of the world, but I often have a few things in my SUV trunk, like luggage and other stuff. I like to have stuff separated.

Anyone else run into this issue?

look on Northern Tool (if it is available in Canada). It appears the same box made for Husq is available in black for a lot less.

You could maybe trim the inside plastic of a case to make a bigger saw fit to the point of closing.
I don’t use cases so it’s never been an issue for me.

My 460 fits in a woodsman case, but it just had the small felling spikes, my 461 won’t fight with bigger spikes. I’d assume the 462 and 500i would fight if you go with the factory spikes.

This is a 395XP Powerhead in a Husqvarna soft case.

IIRC, Husqvarna states that a 372XP will fit. The case will only hold a 20” bar installed, the 395XP is PHO, in the case in these pictures. The 395, sits in the case at an angle in the tray bottom, it is a little too long to sit square with a bar mounted, but who runs a 20” bar on a 395XP?

I have several of these cases, and really like them, I can usually find them on ebay for about $35 New

The bar sleeve folds around and Velcro’s to the side of the case, when used without a bar mounted. I have been wanting my Wife to talk to a Seamstress Friend of hers about putting a zipper around the nose end of the bar sleeve and using the plastic scabbard that Husqvarna sells to extend the length of bar that could be mounted and covered

That's what they are called. There was a discussion on FHC a while back about this.:D

I know my 6421 won't fit in the hard plastic Stihl case that my 029super resides in. The 460 magnum won't fit in it either.

I'll have to see what hard case my buddy just got due his Makita 6100. There was plenty of room in that case for all but the largest saw.

Yep, I Did, that is what Husqvarna calls them too

From the Husqvarna Catalog description for the Powerbox:

Comes with an 18" to 20" scabbard. Single, fully-assembled case.

And from the sticker on a Husqvarna Scabbard

I have heard them referred to as Scabbards for years, and that is what Husqvarna calls them, so that is Good Enough for Me.

If you want to call it a Bar Cover, or whatever, maybe that is a regional thing, I don’t know, but if you want to be Wrong, I’m Fine with that ;):thumbs:

I grew up with calling them a scabbard because that is what the "old" people called them when I was working with them 40+ years ago. Some people also call it a sheath. As for the case issue I have been thinking about making some aluminum maybe diamond plate cases for a few of my saws. I really want something for my 661 with full wrap. Most of the damage comes not from when I'm actively using the saws but from all the other crap I bring with.
also If anyone knows where I can get a 60" scabbard I would really appreciate it if you would be so kind as to point me in the right direction.

Screwloose, I have heard that large retired Firehouse works well, but I Wish you Better Luck than I have had finding any. I even have a Brother in Law that is a Fireman/Paramedic, and he hasn’t been able to get me any :( it seems that stuff is more durable than it used to be, it also seems there is more demand for it too:headbang:

There is a possibility that we have a section of old but good firehose in the pole shed up north. My Father accumulated several interesting things when he was the President of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers.

I can tell you that if it's in the shed, and I'm pretty certain that it is, that it would be put to much better use by FHC'ers than what it has been doing for the late 20 years.

Next time I'm up North I'll have to remember to look.

I like to use a 16 inch bar on my cs680. It minimizes cutting into other logs when cutting on a log pile. The guy at my dealership said nobody runs a 16 inch bar on a 680. I guess I’m nobody.

That makes perfect sense though. I found that I would cut into the next log many times when I used the 6421 with a 20" b&c. I should've just grabbed the 029super with the 16" on it to make those cuts.

When I explained to him why I use the short bar he said that it was acceptable. Lol

I had a boss that told me this. "Everything is situational". That is a great saying, and one that I've adopted.
