I burnt a couple of cord of Sycamore two years ago. Hard to split but I liked the way it burned IMO.

I have a couple buddies that are in Southern VT snowmobiling this weekend , talked to them this afternoon and they had 18 inches of wet heavy snow last night.
Rain here and not even close enough to a temperature for snow.

    Stay warm.

It's mid-range on the BTUs, splits very easily and 2 summers of drying is just fine. Only downside is that it does seem to be more susceptible to mould than any other species I have worked with. From what I've read, sycamore in the US is more like our 'London Plane' but I can't be sure. This is much harder to split and indeed does seem to be the experience of some on other US forums.

    Sorry wrong buzz-saw ,
however the buZZsawbrad and myself are close here in CT. (long story and kind of funny though ) that 2 buzz-saws could be so close .

My buddies are a little south of the Killington area but not too far.

Weather here is booooring! It's been 29 to 35F with gloom for weeks. Ground won't freeze hard enough to work in the woods & no snow. We've had somewhere around 8" all winter I think. It's colder & more snow in the South this year.:loco:  Got some Elm in the boiler at 34 F.

17f / 71f I got the Regency going strong with some more of the the silver maple I am burning through during this relatively warm weather pattern. It is supposed to change late next week with lows getting just below zero. Then it will be sugar maple time.

32 out 72 in. Shorts, uglies, lumber cut offs. I usually burn this stuff in shoulder seasons, not mid January. I'm starting to run out of this stuff so burning more splits to stretch it. I dont want to be burning 18 inch splits in late April.

19 and 68. Hardwood mix I loaded last night barely shrunk overnight. Add air/make coffee/watch 5 minutes of bad news on tv.
Got a tiny dusting overnight. Weather service had a stroke and issued a severe weather advisory:rofl:  Can't blame them I guess. They likely have a building full of chair polishers nervously chewing there fingernails waiting for something to do this ..... Um.... WINTER, Haaaaaaaa. No complaints.

    Have a great day all!

10 degrees colder than we got Jeff. Woke up to 33F & a bit of wet snow. I'll throw a couple splits in the boiler on the way out to church here in a couple minutes.
