I’m kinda in the wrong spot for my hobbies. 2 hours to the cape for fishing the ocean or 2 hours to the valley for big lake fishing and skiing.
You have to make the move diagonally north. I’m a half hour to the ocean. 1:15 to Moosehead. Plenty of lakes closer than that with good game fish. We are a couple hours away from Sunday River sugarloaf saddleback though. Eaton in skowhegan used to be ok, steep and narrow. Had night skiing. Then we have the bump across town here. It’s not much.
I'll second/ third/ fourth Sunday River in Maine. Attitash bear peak is good too. Never been to wildcat, but it sounds like a good one as well. Lots of options out there-ah!
Attitash and Wildcat are owned by the same company. I'm not sure if its for all tickets, but you can get a ticket which will let you ski both mountains in the same day. They are about 20 minutes apart.
Of course Killington and Okemo are 2 hours away they did have the 3+ foot drop of snow earlier but 3” inches rain 2 weeks later made glades wash outs right now with current temps Mad River is solid ice
What's your time frame? I'll be camping along the Kancamagus Highway, middle of February. Me and the guys are snowshoeers, not skiers.
Lots of good spots mentioned - Sunday River, definitely. I have always liked Jay - a bit far though... Wildcat is right there/Attitash can't be beat from my perspective.
Thanks guys... headed to Killington this coming week (M-F), I've been skiing there for 45 years... ;-) I think I'll plan a trip to Mt Wash, and then do either Jay or Sunday River, two I've have not been to....
