So after some research and shopping prices I finally found a new humidifier. And, yes, its the one some of you told me you had in your homes. The humidity level in my house was down around 32%, and I was already starting to notice the crustyness in my nose and static when putting on or taken off clothes. The first 24 hours with it running the humidity in the house jumped 10% and it was out of water. Since then it has slowed to 1 1/2- 2 days before needing a refill. The last humidifier I had held the same amount of water but would take 5-6 day before needing a refill. Next year I might get another one for the upstairs.
I must’ve missed that thread... does this new humidifier have a paper/pleated filter or does it have a rotating mat that runs thru/dunks in the reservoir? I don’t even know if that style is still available.
We put an air purifier near our stove. I run it on low but put it on high when I load the stove and empty ashes. I haven’t checked the filter yet.
What kind of humidifier is that? We've had a Duracraft cool-air for years. Seems the fan motor decided it was done spinning. Not bad after about 30yrs. It figures that I just bought a number of wicking filters. Oh well.
Its an evaporative humidifier. It's easy to find on the Menard's website. Its called the "Airfare Credenza, " holds 5.6 gallons of water. Replacement filters are $15. The directions say to change the filter every season. Maybe I can squeeze an extra season in if the filter looks ok.
My wife bought the same one they have where she works. I can’t give it a good review yet. It’s a fan and a filter, the filter is starting to get dirty so it must do something. Here’s what we got, it’s a filtrete.
