My neighbor called me asking to grab some wood from tree removal. He told that he planted this silver maple in roughly 1970 as a twig. Sorry about the distant picture but I estimate that the trunk was at least 3+ feet diameter. That’s a lot of growth in 5o years! Largish growth rings. I got about a pickup load. My neighbor got like 5 loads which is good bc I have a lot already.
Yeah, those silver maple grow quickly. A friend thought that the silver maple in my debt yard was planted when this house was built. No. Definitely not. The house was built it the late 60's and our silver maple is nowhere near that size. Maybe 18" dbh off the top of my head.
It grows big quick. Lots of it here. I'll get pictures tomorrow. Here are some rounds I cleaned up at a friend's Saturday.
Of all the maples they grow the fastest IME. They like moist soil and are popular yard trees for their fast growth. Neighbor in front of us has a huge one in his yard. Had me cut up a huge limb after ones of the storms here back in 2018. Nice score there Steve.
