I have a tractor with forks for moving logs and a splitter with a log lift. There is still a lot of grunt work involved but the machinery helps!

I have a JD1070 with forks for moving logs around and it will pick up most logs I get but not all.
I have an Iron and Oak spltter with 4 way wedge (we call this the one man machine)
I have a tw 6 splitter with 6 way wedge and log lift (we call this the two man machine)
And as far as saws: my main saw is an echo 8000 (soon to be replaced with a new husky 390), Stihl 038 magnum and Stihl ms 260

Been at it pretty good this week. Have this oak pile up to about 35 feet long and then the other one is growing as well.

So what does that bring your current split cordage to? Nice weather with the dry cold and frozen ground. Im certainly lovin' it.

Piles or stacks like that I see while driving make me slam on the brakes and say "holy $#@*!" Than I drive around the block and repeat.

Always a great thread to follow, thanks for sharing it with us. Do you wind up hitting a lot of metal being tree service wood/logs? Ever thought about adding a supersplit to the arsenal? It makes quick work of the straight stuff.

I see my fair share of metal but thankfully don’t hit much. In 200+ cords, I probably hit metal maybe 6-8 times on average.
I’ve thought about a super split but I feel the multi wedge splitters can keep up with them and you don’t have to work as hard.

Did some cleanup today. Move short pieces, long pieces, and uglies where they belong. Up to 70 cords cut and split

I have more bark on the ground than I prefer in the second picture to help deal with the mud. I prefer the ground around my piles to look more like the first picture. Oh well, will have to let my OCD slide a little on this one as the ground is too soft in places.

I hear you on the mud. Cant get to my PA at my friends as his back yard too muddy. I can walk back there to split, but thats it for now. Need tools to work on racks and have splits to bring in.
The wood crumbs do make great mud repellant though...and you've got plenty of them!
