Hell, where do I begin? As this states a range time title, I'll start with a recent trip up to the shooting spot. It didn't turn out so well as some a$$hats started getting ridiculous. They wandered up past the trees that existed in the firing lane and I called up to them on that. Many others did as they trekked across them. At that point it was time to leave. However as I should. I took a few daddy daughter shooting pictures. this wasn't a terrible day, I got some quality daughter
Had many bad experiences at public gun ranges over the year's. A bunch of us were setting up at the benches at a public covered range getting ready to shoot a guy pulls up gets out without telling us and starts Shooting a ak-47 at some of our targets we didn't even have ear muffs on It was a tense conversation I had with him. I'm fortunate to have land to have a range now And my friends have a plate rack I can shoot at I don't trust people to be safe.

I'm pretty lucky to have a 100 yard range for free whenever I want to use it. It's not even a half hour away. It's like to set up some steel targets, but I'll need to do some research on what to use as regular steel can cause ricochets apparently. If I can recycle something I will.
ole Funny you should mention a Stevens bolt action 22. I bought one from a friend of mine when I was around 12YO. I had it home, bought and paid for for 2 weeks before my parents knew I had it. Kept it standing up in a corner of my bedroom closet. I had to buy my own ammo and I believe it was 50 cents a box, 50 rds per box. Had no problems going into the general store and buying whatever ammo I needed.
Try not to use regular A36 plate as you'll just destroy it. Your new BCA will punch through it. Use AR-500 plate, 3/8" min. and 1/2" better. A local steel supplier with a flame table can make whatever you want as cheaply as buying something. I have a few bags of 6" and 8" discs with "bears ears" tabs in the garage, still have to build a portable hanger for them. 1/2" Ar-500, about $13 each.
Yes this is exactly what we hoped to have, people doing the safe thing all the time but whatever the last 10 months effect had on people, made them a little too trigger happy for my liking. I don't mind ammo dumps but a little warning of it would keep me from greasing my biscuits. Also we were on our first time out with my daughter then. Gone to the public shooting area before and never had an issue. In fact so many were just a delight to just banter with the handful of times @Sugarbug and I went out. She's been off this site a bit too, probably why the tagging isn't working. Anyways it really never was a problem and people didn't mind sharing info or even handling their firearms. Even shooting them was fantastic. Always fun. This time we will head to a more sophisticated range. Yes will pay but there's possibly a membership in this so that can have benefits. Hopefully down the line property will be easier to buy and still have a couple yards to set out something. We got my daughter some bear targets for Xmas and beforehand told me the first thing she wanted to hunt was a bear. Still gonna start her on the .22 for now. One thing I hadn't realized until we paused for a bit in the last outing is the scope. She was looking in it and being so excited to do something new she put her head down on the stock a bit and the scope caught her in the forehead. Nothing bad but I hadn't realized how much space we needed to both sit and shoot. This time I will have the scope off until she figures out the iron sights.(rookie mistake on my part but I've wanted that dang scope working on my rifle and I'm not fluent in fine tuning that and never could get comfortable at the public range enough to dial it in) I'm sure I'll appreciate the range tables but I'm looking forward to making one using an empty wire spool.
Ahh those days are....highly sought after. Since now the lowest of some ammo is. 50 cents a dang round! Not saying the .22 is all that way but I did happen to buy a single box of some competition level stuff called Midas +, Lapua brand for about 20 bucks a box of 50 about 4-5 months ago and then a box of 500 Aguila for around 35? Might have to go back to selling wood if I wanna pay for this hobby. Right now I only have a semi auto Savage. 22LR but the bolt actions are looking pretty good in terms of saving ammo and making the shots count.
I just checked to see what model Stevens I have and it is an 84D. Probably made sometime in the 50's. It came with a 5 shot mag.
Picked up a ruger wrangler fun revolvers They are only 189.00 feels nicely made With a good trigger. The kids in the family are just starting shooting this will save on ammo I only have semi autos. They had some 9mm And people were buying it at this price. I just needed some .40 bullet's I found these 155 swc a local company makes them Good stuff I've used thousands Very consistent and accurate I ordered some 230gr .45 cast bullet's but it will be months before they get caught up. My local shop is closing up They opened in 72 The owner passed away it was a local institution. I bought my first pistol there a springfield 1911 .45 in 1988
There is a small one owner log cabin shop near me that is a local institution also. I used to frequent the place when I lived out this way years ago but moved away for a very long time. Now that I'm back in this area again I really need to stop in more often.
I picked up a box of that yesterday for $44.99. I hadn't seen the sig jhp in the 50 round boxes. I know that box wouldnt have been that high months ago, but I figured less than a $ per round is good for jhp, especially considering current times.

I'm liking the wrangler The trigger creep went away in shooting It. It's about 4lb crisp This was 50/55 ft the trash remington had many low powered rounds almost squib loads They would throw a flyer often. My friend at his plate rack has one of these and tried mine He's buying another for the grand kids.
It seems like many Ruger triggers need some trigger time to get better. The 10/22 is like this, so are the mini14's/ ranch rifles. At least you guys are finding 9mm on shelves. But at those prices, I wouldn't buy any.
After buying too many BX triggers I have "discovered" the Volquartsen drop in target hammer. Highly recommend and 1/2 the cost
Not me I'm actually not much of a 9mm fan lol I use a single stage rcbs partner press And the .40 and up cases are much easier to manipulate and move in between stages than the 9mm I do have a lyman turret press but it's easier to use the rcbs.
I love 9's. Then again I like just about anything that goes BANG. As far as triggers go, trigger spring kits are easy to install and very reasonably priced. Upgraded springs make very noticeable difference.
