Nice looking tractor! What kind of winch is on the back? That elm looks brutal.

That is a Fransgard V-2800 on my Kubota L2501. The Elm was brutal it grew on the field edge and was very twisted.

I think those L2501 tractors are about the best compact tractor deal out there right now. Like that winch, fits the tractor well.

Yeah! the winch is just the right size for the L2501. I love the tractor and with 0% interest it was a no brainer.
I will say that the new Kubota will not lift as much as my old one, but still gets the job done.

That will be for 2021-2022 season. It is great weather for outside work and firewood is the benefit of loving to run my saws!

Another nice day to cut wood dropped a few trees nothing big 6" - 10" Cherry, Soft Maple, Poplar, and a dead Elm. Had a visitor I think I may have disturbed his home. Back in the mid '90's, we dropped a large tree over by the barn while a bunch of the neices and nephews were over here. There was a family of flying squirrels in the tree we didn't know about since they are nocturnal. The kids chased them through the woods for quite a while till they lost them. The cousins still talk about that yet today. It created a great memory for them.

I found it pretty cool too although I hated that I had disturbed a whole family. I'm sure it was traumatic for Rocky and his family, but they all got away safely and didn't seem to be hurt. I knew we had them around here, but had never seen one in the wild before that day or since. Nature is awesome and I love being out in the woods.

There were Two of them in one of the Poplar trees I cut when it hit the ground it broke apart about 8' from the base it was hollow and punky and the Squirrels came running out and up that pine. It is the first time I have been that close too one. I did feel kind of bad that I cut their home down, hopefully they will find a new home.
