Antenna TV (Not dish)

It isn't worth it!!! My wife has a couple shows she really likes but after I explained to her we could have had a "brand new Jeep" for what we paid the cable company in 15+ years, she understands! We were going to be at $3000.00 a year for TV!

Hey David, thanks for verifying this. I took a look at your reception and you have some options. Stations from Salisbury, MD are fair and stations from Philadelphia are weak. I don't think you'll get Batlimore or NY stations as most broadcasters transitioned to very directional antenna patterns to keep their signals "within the market" and not spill into other markets. Analog used to travel a lot further than digital as well.

You have two main options for an antenna setup. The first is something I'd recommend if your main concern is ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, PBS, and the other major networks from the closest market - Salisbury. The antenna would be fixed and you wouldn't need a rotator. The second option would be to use a large high gain antenna on a rotator to switch between the stations from Philadelphia and Salisbury. This setup would be more expensive but would gain you Philadelphia channels. Some of the programming may be duplicate but there are a lot of diginets from Philadelphia you might like. It all depends how much TV you watch and what channels.

Take a look at the chart below. It shows the channels you'd likely pick up. Click on the station's call letters in the second column to see the subchannels you'd get from each Slisbury channel. See if those channels would satisfy your TV channel preference. You'd definitely get ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, PBS, Me-TV, Antenna TV, and several others. If some of the channels you see from Philadelphia (main diginets) are of interest and not duplicate of the Salisbury stations it might be better to invest in an antenna rotator. Otherwise you can go with an easier fixed antenna setup pointed towards Salisbury. Let me know what your preference is.

I looked at a few of those larger antenna's and considered them very carefully. When my wife and I discussed this, she said she was gonna do the Roku thing and I said fine but I'm gonna do an antenna for live news and weather. With that said, Phila is just about 95 miles as the crow flies and Baltimore is about 75. Most of the Maryland stations for me are 55 miles and in. Also, it's not uncommon for us to get 70+mph winds during a Nor-easter had I've had "many" 90mph+ gusts. When I was a kid, and there was a lot of antenna's around, after a storm it was common to see a bent to $#!T, broken, fallen, Non existent antenna (that used to be there) all over the neighborhood. I went with this one seeing what it's "supposed to do", it's reasonably small and didn't set me back but $50.00. If I get 6 stations clear, and some weather/news, I'll be happy because Chrissy can watch all her other bull$#!T on Roku.
