Yeah, it's a personal saw . Here's a base gasket deleted and muffler modded 372oe, rakers could be lower, but it's a good work chain as is.
It was cutting good until I hit dirt flush cutting that stump lol. Touched it up and then cut a bunch more on an elm I pulled down with the tractor, then yesterday I cut up this locust. Should have touched the chain up as locust is some hard wood, so I expect it to be a bit slower, but I still like my chains to self feed better. Guess I really messed that up, think it will cut faster if I change it .
Sawtroll used to say that on AS lol. From the few guys I've heard talking about them they sound like great saws, but I haven't been in any of the threads reading what the general consensus is. From what I've seen in the echo products I am familiar with, they are great, I like a lot of Japanese products, I'm a big Honda fan. Look forward to hearing how you like it.
Yes I like the Japanese stuff better too. I have a lot of makita stuff. They seem to take a good amount of pride in their workmanship.
4300 is the only makita/dolmar I have, but it's not the only dolmar I have, I like the 7900/7910's a lot. Here's my ported 7900 with a chain I did up for a friend in Northern Ireland, he ran it on a muffler modded 2166 I sent him. These were the only cuts I made with it, I figured it out on the last cut. I think it's a converted stihl RS I did on the grinder as he doesn't have a way to sharpen it.
I’ve got a ported 7910 and it is awesome!! Also a 6400 and some older Dolmars. They are all great saws!
I see no reason to own a 6400, just too slow, that is unless you put a 7900/10 top on one . I've had/have quite a few, even have a 5105, it's a bit fat to me, but it's got heat so... I should get the 5105 and a 346ne out as I haven't ran them in a bit.
Got a new carb on this one right before the video, thanks for the carb Cole Armbru84 , took me a while to install it lol. She left the compound and 3 new to me dolmar/makitas came home to roost .
Nice saw . I like them a lot myself, a nice mix of husky qualities and stihl in the areas that count. Here's a funny video I did recently. I was messing around because some of the guys on AS were saying a chain that's near the witness marks won't cut, I said when they get back by the rivet they're just getting good messing around, then I filed this one back a bit. I ran it in that elm above, then I had to switch to the "soft" ash or I would have ripped all the cutters off the right side and most off the left as a few on the left were just in front of the witness marks.
