So they don't use power tools or vehicles, but they basically pay others to do so. Interesting.

THAT all depends on who they are and where they are from. Etc.

The local guys I bought all my wood from for my horse barn build use a diesel run saw mill. I have never seen them use power tools other than the mill. And not seen these guys on phones at all.

I'm aware of the difference between Amish and Mennonites, in basic terms.....always understood it as Amish use no modern power equipment or technology, Mennonites may use some. I guess there may be different sects of Amish which differ somewhat, like other religions. Of course I'm only going off what I've read or what people on forums have told me who live near them.

I'd like a chair in this club, please. Except, mine was the last day of 2020.

Poured a pot of water into the bunn coffee maker, turned on the hot pate and.......... nothing! I tripped and reset the GFCI on the kitchen counter a few times and ........ still nothing! Went to the elec panel to look for tripped breakers and ...................still nothing!

    WTH?

Went for my walk and once I got back, I figured to check the on/off switch on the side of the bunn coffee maker and............. BINGO!

99 lbs had wiped the counter clean including underneath the coffee maker and hit the switch while moving it.

    Easy fix also!

Now that I think of it I would have to cut another 24” of the bottom of larger end of tree. If there is any of that darker color that is rot in the tree. They won’t use that. Looks like it will probably become all firewood for the Wood Gun for next season. Fair enough.

There is a TON of them...both on the Amish side, and the Mennonite side.

Replaced one front tire on mine today. Changed the oil. Got 15 gallons of fuel for it. Second front tire will wait, ruined a tube on the first one, got to order another.

I’ve had it happen and it set off the smoke alarm... more than once. Try explaining that to the alarm company when they call to check.

We got a good 4-5" of snow tonight. I shoveled a path right off of the patio door. The rest will wait until tomorrow morning. Then I'll fire up the snowblower and clear the driveway.

It isn't necessarily that they are against technology, or think it is the devil's work. For the most part they believe that not using technology themselves leads to a simpler life that keeps the family closer together and their culture alive.

An example: Phones for everyone is not necessary, or keep the community close. But one central phone for the community follows their beliefs while providing for communicating with other communities or the outside world when needed.

I haven’t been out yet this morning but it doesn’t look like a lot here yet. Maybe 3-4” of snow. Still snowing though.

Nearly 40 and light rain. Feels nice out. Only an inch of snow then switched over. I took Holly on a good walk and found coyote or fox and rabbit tracks. They were from last night. Also located a deer bed down spot.

This morning will be inside high stairway painting. I have the ladder and plank set up for hopefully a get it done deal.

Maybe after lunch, I can work on the kitchen table top in the barn if the sun comes out. If not split the rounds I piled up yesterday.
