Stopped by one of my spots on the way to a buddy’s. Found a fresh dump of 18-24” DBH red oak and maple. Don’t have any room for rounds but wanted to run the Stihl for a little. Some of the wood was too heavy to move or wedged in too tight. It I managed a quick 7 perfect rounds.
Hard to say no to oak like that. Perfect size to work with. Whenever I think I don’t have any more room I grab it anyway and force myself to find space Also bringing home wood under the cover of darkness leaves my wife scratching her head why I always seem to have a pile to split....
Hard to leave knotless perfect oak behind. It’s why I don’t check my spots too often I know what’ll happen
i am a very fortunate and blessed feller. My wife is with me every weekend busting rounds and hauling , stacking , whatever needs done.
Thanks. Built it with my 76 year old pops back in March. Great memories. Three day build. 12x8x6. Holds 4 cords. I burn about 2 a year. Plan is to empty one side each season and then refill. Alternating like that keeps me two years+ ahead. If I want on Long Island I would have built another bay on the left for rounds but it is what it is. Filled with oak, hickory, maple, beech, ash and cherry
Dont blame you for cherry picking that batch. A few rounds are better than none. I do see room for more rounds though.
Gonna have to change your user name to the "Midnight Hoarder"! That was funny. Got a good "LOL" outta me!
