My wood storage has been filled up so I’ve not been hunting for wood recently. damm, I miss that - playing with the saws, exercise, fresh air & whatnot ☹️.

Well with the burning so far this year I’m starting to have stack space to fill. Had the day off today so I drove by the town yard waste dump site - they have a wood give back section you can haul away all you want; but it’s hit or miss. Sometimes it’s empty, sometimes crap wood, sometime you hit the lottery. Today it was full of Ash - woohoo! I filled the truck up, good exercise, fresh air with a tinge of 2-stroke - what’s not to like? Probably just over a face cord. 40 degrees out with a good breeze so I didn’t even break a sweat - although it was a lot of work. Frikking wood is heavy. Some good sized rounds and a few cookies. The larger rounds I have to noodle in half or quarters so I can lift them into the bed.

This batch will probably get burned winter of 23-24. I’d have gone back for seconds but my chain needs a bit of attention.

Now I’m relaxing on the sofa in the 85 degree stove room. I asked the cat to get me a beer but he flipped me the bird.

That is so awesome! All our dump has is garbage, but I did get a ton of steel roofing out of the metal dumpster!

Those are some bigguns. Great find. I need to make a trip to my recycling center. Lots of wood but can be a mess.

Exactly. Your cat needs to realize why exactly it's nice and warm in your house.

My cat watches me load the stove, and if the stove is cold, she'll lead us down to the basement and look at it. I think she gets it.

Years ago we had a cat that woke us up in the middle of the night because there was no heat, the furnace stopped working. That cat was awesome!

Looks like you are hauling some ash there.
