The cats are out roaming the house this evening. Holly just looks at them but doesn't go after them. The cats are up on furniture out of the way. So far so good. We will do this every day until they just go about their business. No aggression shown, more curiosity than anything. Holly spotted a doe out back here this afternoon. She froze and just stared for a minute.

Glad you are taking it slow and easy on the introductions - best way to keep anxiety and "over-exuberance" to a minimum.

Just love the brindle coloring. Looks like a nice creature. Can't even imagine what is going on in their minds when they go through this transitioning.

Very appropriate for him to rule the roost. After all, he is king of the couch!

She has really settled in nicely and is pretty calm. She does love going outside with her nose to the ground. We have her trained to sit on a towel when she gets inside to wipe her feet off. She gets a few treats for this.

I can't imagine what she is thinking, but we give her lots of praise and she enjoys a belly rub. We believe she knows this is her home now.

First trip out this morning to meet the neighbors.

I am just know catching up on this thread. Happy for you Dave and the wife. You are so brave to take on an older dog. we had a little one once. 7 pounds. Lived to be 17. So kind of you both.

Small wonder she didn't take off with you in tow when she spotted those deer. How is the bonding coming along?

Thanks for the kind words. He's become my shadow, Larry... ;) He's pretty laid back, and mostly calm. Have learned how to keep his coughing/hoarkin' episodes short... if it's a bad one, all I have to do is pick him up and hold him for a bit. He usually stops coughing in a few seconds and calms right down again... just about every time. His meds seem to help too. So far, so good.

Sadly, our precious cat named Simon had to be put down while I was in Texas this Christmas. He was the cutest kitty and we loved him. The last 2 weeks we had him, every night at about 8-9pm he would jump in my lap and just wanted me to pet him as he would grind his head into my chin. He will be missed emmensly. 20201211_212215.jpg 20201126_223331.jpg

So sorry for your loss. It is always tough to let them go, but especially so at what is supposed to be a joyous time of year. May memories of his snuggles bring you peace.

Sorry to hear this SD Steve. He looks like he was a great cat. Very handsome.

She sits quietly and focuses on them. She will pull when they take off, but I have a good handle on her.

She has bonded well with everyone, and asks for little in return.

I remember years ago Mom would leave a piece on the counter for awhile then add some honey before giving it to one of our dogs that had a persistant cough.
Not sure of the reasoning with the bread? 'carrier'? but she did say honey was good for the dog.

After reading this Dave,ya just gotta watch dose amount.

5 Powerful Healing Benefits of Honey for Your Dog (thisdogslife.co)

We had a a lab 15 years ago and he would get the honey bread trick the odd time and it seemed to work well.:salute:
