Better come with extra Stihl scabbards, Stihl hat, Stihl safety glasses, Stihl gloves, and a 6 pack of Stihl hp ultra.
Lol.....one of the body shops I work with, when I call him he sometimes answers and says "is this Cheatum"
Sorry, the Stihl 500i is sold with a fossil bar cover ( orange ). Scabbards are not available with this chainsaw. ( Glad some have some sense of humor ). ....and Howe. Hat= head covering. Gloves= digitals' protection covering. Safety glasses = optical illusions.
Finally made it to my Stihl dealer today. Had to pay for the rolls of chain I ordered and needed some hp ultra. There was no 500 on the shelf. With the zeta damage it might have got snagged. The owner said saws have been flying off the shelf, but the shelves were full of homer and pro saws. There was a regular 261, 261cm, 362cm and 462cm. The most saws he’s had in stock for years. He got robbed twice and quit having many pro saws in stock. I also asked for an extra bag of .325 links and he rode his scooter up to the mechanics shop and brought back a bag for no charge. Really good guy and his wife works there too. They take care of me and they will continue to get my business.
Not a Stihl guy, but Crater Chainsaw in Medford, OR was running Carhart add on the radio, so I went by after work, Hoping they were a Duo Dealer with Both Husky and Stihl, no such luck They had a 500i on the shelf, I picked it up and looked it over, but it just didn’t call out to me, and I put it back on the shelf They had at least 4 or 5 more stihl in the boxes, with either Standard or Full Wrap bars available in stock He said that they were going out as fast as they came in at first, everyone has been Very Happy with them so far I didn’t leave with a new saw, but I did take home a New Carhart jacket and some shirts, they Stihl got me for a bit over $200 even after the sale Doug.
We initially got 2, that was our original allotment. I was lucky enough to grab 1 from the initial allotment. After those initial units were spread among the territory, open season started and we eventually pulled 10 more in before our Distributor said that was it for their inventory until further notice. None sitting on the shelf other than mine.
Was at my normal OPE dealer today and asked about the 500i. The owners son says June! WTH? They did get one and it sold right away. One other OPE i haunt says Winter. Guess i wont be self gifting one for Christmas!
Maybe so. A package has not arrived yet. I checked my PO box yesterday. I would probably faint if that happened.
Those mom and pop operations are usually the best ones. I had stopped at a Stihl dealer back in October that was like that. I was very pleased listening to him talk to a customer about saws. It was an hour from home and i wish he was close to me.
I was just over visiting Scott Kunz (treemonkey) and he has two 500i's. I am pretty sure this was the saw he was talking about. He plans on playing with them to see what he can do and it makes it easier when he has two of them to do his R&D on. I also believe he told me he was NOT impressed with how they cut out of the box.
I don't remember what saw he compared it to and seeing I don't know my Stihl saws I don't even want to guess, but I'm assuming it was an equivalent Stihl 80cc......but he said stock vs stock the 500i cut slower every time.
