many dealers double-stack if they keep any kind of quantity....they just take up too much space otherwise....we tried triple stacking one year, but it was too onerous. As for find, I seriously doubt the fines crated by stacking are significant compared to the fines created when the pellets are shipped in bagged for, particularly from a great distance. Another great producer of fines is high humidity and/or water. Fines due to stacking? Maybe some, but I don't think it significant.

Is there a thread dedicated to pellet pricing reports?

I've been calling around this morning and wanted to post the prices I was quoted and see what everyone else is hearing for pricing.

Sigh, I caved and ordered in 2 pallets (1.2 each) of Lacrete at far more than I wanted to spend @294/ton but I dont want to chance it. This will give me just under 4 ton of Lacrete/Spruce Pointe. I have 30 bags FSU and may have my dealer bring a ton of MWP or Corinth as the pricing is around 240. I dont foresee Big Box going far below that this fall and it wont cost me any more for his flat rate delivery to add another ton. I feel I am positioned pretty well to add from Big Box if the prices do drop and the 5ish ton I have should be OK for me if they dont.

My brother found FSU in Seabrook @240 but my local HD still has Greene Supreme-so its time to make my decisions and be done with it.

My brother ordered 5 ton FSU-this is his 3rd season and his first try on FSU. As he has an XXV, he will be fine but I told him not to expect the same performance as the better pellets he has used his first 2 years, but again I think they will do him well. He had to use big box at the end of last season and used Greene Supreme-hated them-what a surprise. He had another location that had LG in the 290-300 range-I advised at that price he can do better.

Holy Crap Batman !! Those are some high prices-I dont feel so bad at 294 for LaCrete.

Wait, I was looking at the regular pricing but the summer sales dont look all that good either. This is New England pricing for ya :(

Yep, Gonna be 2 tons from TSC @ $214/ton(already ordered) and maybe a ton or 2 of MC. We have to see about the MC as I won't order until October. Price will most likely be higher. :(

IHP said the MC burned hot for him, So I may just jump on some. Very nervous of another pellet crunch again this season!!

I called TSC in Hooksett NH yesterday. 224.50 a ton until the end of the month. I believe their pellets are just re-branded MWP blend. I had good luck with the MWP blend last year.

I used some FSU last year. They weren't bad. If I recall correctly Home Depot (I'm in the greater Manchester area) had them for $219 a ton all season last year and at one point had a sale for 209 a ton. Sometimes if you're only buying bags you can ask the manager to give you the per ton price and they will.

That 219 price went out the window late season when everyone was out of fuel. Dont be surprised if this years Lowes, HD, TSC etc are higher than previous years. I hope I am wrong and time will bring these prices back down.

I always start the season with what I feel need plus some. But just like oil, pellets have become a commodity with so many jumping on the band wagon. Helll they use to be 150/ton not too many years ago.

TSC had a $25 of per ton up to 8 tons coupon. I couldn't pass the deal up. So we got 2 tons. Made my out the door price $214/ton. Everything else I have seen is $229 or higher.

Our TSC has TSC rebagged MWP and Hamers(might even be some lignetics in the stacks) along with AWF.

Yup. I called Home Depot less than an hour ago. they have FSU in stock for $239/ton. More than last year but still cheaper than pellet dealers. I'm going to pickup about 15 bags on my lunch break. I have a boiler, not a stove and last year I burned a bunch of different brands. They all perform pretty much the same so I tend to buy the cheapest ones i can get my hands on. I see some of the stove guys talking about how they're willing to pay over $300/ton for specific brands that they feel perform better but I just don't get it.

Where can you find the TSC coupons? The TSc that's seven miles from my house has MWP blend rebrand for 224.50, that would be 199.50/ton with the coupon. Under $200! Isn't that the holy grail of pellet buying these days?

Maine Choice, lower on the pole for me. Not so hot and had lots of fines. Not a bad pellets, just that others are better. Haven't tried them in the Harman.
