Even wood that is below 20% may not be as ready as it should be, that was more or less stated in the thread. Went through that with some Oak and White Ash just in the past 2 or 3 weeks. Stove did not function as it usually does so went to a different stack and the issues went away.
So many variables its hard to learn all what you need to know in a short period of time.

Apparently we need a new term for these new hybrid and not so hybrid designs that are producing flameless fire(s) and touting their extended burn times via same.

I thought we were talking about tube style stoves, not cat stoves...

Oh. I thought we were talking about EPA stoves. I'll go start from the beginning again. Maybe I missed something or "assumed".

I have started to do that. I have some unsplit wood waiting to be split. With my shoulder I don't have any business trying to split too much wood by hand and in the past have rented a splitter. One of these days I may buy my own splitter. The big problem is trying to find time and energy to cut the wood.

One other advantage we are definitely seeing with making sure we have dry wood is using less wood and the amount may be pretty significant. It is easily only using 80% and probably much less.

I have read his primer but is always good to refresh yourself on what is in there. It was especially Backwoods Savage's primes that helped me "get religion" and start storing more wood.
