So what you're saying is 799 deg is the last number that's needed on the mag thermometer's gauge....cause after that it's laying on the stove top or floor...

I think the SBI disk turns on at like 100* I wouldn’t have a problem just letting it run unless you were smoldering wet wood.

You make a good point. The thermo switch said 110 so that sounds right.
I tend to over think things, so I was thinking it needed to be between 300 and 600 degrees.
One thing about it, its warm in my house right now. I'm going to turn on the blower and see what happens.

My concern is more kw consumption than clogging up the works.

One thing to consider though is that the place where the switch goes is considerably cooler than the stovetop. So, 110 where the switch is is not 110 at the stove top.

Doing a quick and dirty experiment as it sits right now. The flue temp is around 300 in a later part of the cycle. The stove top is hot, but putting my fingers in the space where the switch goes is mildly warm.

Well if magnets loose their magnetyness (yep, just made that up) at 800, I'd say you got jipped out of that last 100.

Meh...most of those little blowers run about 100W on high...that's about $5 month if running 16 hrs per day and paying $0.12/kWh

I bought a stove from an old buck that flipped smoke dragons. New brick, door gasket and a rattle can paint job. I got one of his waiting to be worked on stoves in his pile. Anyways we got to talking about stoves and he invited me in to check out his round elm stove. Every inch of the stove and his pipe was covered in magnetic thermometers! He was an interesting dude. I went back later to get another stove he didn’t remember me and gave the exact same sales speal as the first time.

The important question is: did they all read the same temp?

I'm definitely coming to you if I need a review.
We had a stove growing up that was a Franklin, I had one in my first house that was a small Drolet styled stove (came with the house) (I did not appreciate that little heat box enough), my first stove at my current house which was a US box stove, and now my Drolet.

My wife thinks I’ll end up like that old buck with stoves stacked up like cord wood in the yard.
