So last Saturday, a good friend whom i do a fair amount of repair work for on his farming operation told me thst there was some land being cleared on the way to a field he works
We go look at it and its all oak but pushed up on piles, so very dirty and labor intensive
I told him I would maybe get ou there and take a trailer load and that was the end of it

So Monday, he phones me at work and needs a saw for his cousin (70 years old). Saws were at home locked up,shoot!
Asked him what he was up to, said "we're getting you a load of wood"
Now these guys (3) are all mid to late 60's, but really hard workers!

Sorry for the long story but its almost done!!

I get home from work expecting a small trailer load. Hmmm nothing.
Went down to their place, i see 2 53ft flat deck trailers heaping with trees!!!!
They weren't sure where to leave it all!!!!
They had the full arsenal out there, bobcat, 2 semis, telehandler, excavator , and a rented chainsaw!!
I was shocked when he said they were getting another load the next morning!
Dang, them old guys don't screw around!

Awesome story and share Creekin :salute:

If they’re the type of fellows that enjoy a sip of suds or spirits, well... you know the drill. Then again, if they don’t partake, I’m sure you have something in mind.
    Great friends nonetheless!

That's what friends do for one another! My guess is you're a good friend to them as well, stories like this give me hope for humanity.

Here you on the refreshments! But these guys don't really partake.
i offered to pay fuel and time, but they wouldn't have any of that!

These guys you can't do anything for to show how much appreciation you have, won't take anything

Ive even tried "forgetting " some invoices of work ive done for them, NOPE, won't have any of that either

What an awesome tale! Share up some pics if you can. We are all salivating at the prospect of what you tell.

Sounds like you surround yourself with some pretty good people. :salute:

Its an interesting thing that people do that. On one hand, I get that mentality because I do that when i help a friend, but on the other hand, I had a friend help me this weekend get a stove in the basement and I really wanted to have a cold one with him and show him just a little gratitude but he had to move on. Sometimes if feels good to show someone some appreciation. Now i gotta find a need of theirs to fill. :smoke:

Ive got some other people in my life that require a bit more effort/energy on my part
I don't really like people doing things for me, but with me

This is a really good story about us "older guys" that get pushed aside many times, my local Sthil dealers service guy that i have know for over 30+ years, he did not think i could handle more then a homeowners type chainsaw.

And i get a lot of your 80 you need to slow down take life eazy, you might get yourself hurt trying to do any chainsaw cutting.

All these do good doers really do is pizz me off "BIG TIME" if i need their advice as what i can or can't do i surly would "NOT" ask for it.

These friends of yours never thought they needed someone to tell them they were to old, or not in good enough health to get that wood cut and hauled they just did it.

I try to notice what my friends pick up/use most often (tools, tunes, regular beverage, meal/snacks, etc.) and then sneakily deposit one of those things when they’re not looking. A gift card is an easy one too. Just don’t let ‘em see ya coming... and deny it with a straight face if confronted. :D
Or, just show up and repay in kind with labor. :salute:

The thought crossed my mind, when they do cut with their own saw its and old homelite that surprisingly enough still runs well

Find a good used saw that looks a bit used. Likely they wouldn't accept minty new looking. Fire it up on their doorstep & run.:D:handshake:
