I fired up the computator so I could load up a few Jeep pics. 98 on ~6" lift with home fabbed suspension.. radius arm front, 4 link rear. 36" TSLs, ARB lockers front and rear, Warn 9k winch, on board air, etc, etc. First pic is out at Moab, UT and the other two are from around here.
Well, it is a DD summer and winter, at least for now is why I was looking at Duratracs or Cooper AT3's. I do have two sets of wheels though so I could have BOTH. I just found some 34x10.5 TSL bias plys with good tread used for $175 for a full set including a spare. I may run those this summer until I get some good winter tires on lock. Also the Bronco has a stock trak lok limited slip in the rear, which has already impressed me more than I could imagine. It doesn't compare to my old Toyota pick up that had swampers and detroits front and rear, but that's also not what I'm after. This is just my over the top camping vehicle/dd....
Oh. "I will be wheeling the pizz out of this rig" means not a daily driver/gravel roads vehicle to me.
Yeah, but I will be lol. Like I said I do have an extra set of wheels.... It IS possible to have both. I've done it before Just like... you could daily drive both of those jeeps as long as you always had an extra trac bar on hand for the front suspension
The orange Jeep was a friends, sold it a while back actually. Track bar held up fine on mine, but it was homebuilt out of 2" tube with a Johnny Joint at each end.
Yeah, way to build it. I actually like Jeeps a lot, but I got my Bronco for $1500 less than it books for and it was garage kept for life. With 3 dogs and a lady the extra space for camping trips is needed. I've actually always been a Toyota guy so this was new to me... I just remember working in a shop, 1 out of 3 cherokees or wranglers needed a knock sensor and/or a trac bar. Usually the trac bar but these were stock vehicles. Every vehicle has it's demons, like my boss said "they are all pieces of crap, some are just bigger pieces of crap than others." That said, I settled on these tires http://www.onlinetires.com/products/vehicle/tires/gladiator/33%2F12.50-15 gladiator qr900-mt 114q bsw.html I can get them shipped to my door for $606 bucks. I need to call them tomorrow to find out how the warranty works etc., and see if I can find them locally because if I can, after shipping they will be the same price and I'll have a shop that can take care of me rather than deal with the mail it in and deal with it for a week thing. I did read some GOOD reviews on them, but there aren't many to find either..... AND, I do have a budget to a point, swampers are EXPENSIVE
Hard to beat huh! My only worry is what happens when one blows out under warranty. Will order a spare but still.... They make it strong implications that it is the manufacturers problem.... I meant to call today to get the real skinny on it but.... worked like a dog on a big fireplace install in BFE so... no time or SIGNAL most importantly,.
Had around 180k on my 95 4.0 auto np231 tcase. Only prob other than normal maint. Was them c clip Dana 35 rear axles. I also found after taking the doors off the tires stayed on the ground better while crawling in the rough stuff. UniFlex.
I have you all beat lol. I had an 85 4runner that I SOLD with 354,000 original miles, no engine work, no transmission work, no axle work.
Wow, took forever lol but I finally saved up some coin for tires (darn house needing work, grrrrrr). I'll be taking a short run to test them out this weekend, hopefully I can find someone to go with me so I can get some actions shots but so far no takers. I don't have many friends that like to 4x4 even though we live in Colorado oddly enough. Now I need to track down a spare... that little 235 looks kind of goofy on the back and it's dry rotted so I couldn't use it anyways. Also that wheel won't even hold a 33" tire, back to craigslist it is!
After yesterday, I'd say 35's definitely won't fit... The old Bronco did well though, I was pretty impressed The picture doesn't do it justice really
