My back has been knotting up on me lately, so been taking it easy. Got outside today for some light-duty wood processing- apple tops from the Wallingford CT score! The tote is full of apple branches. About ten years ago, my dad had his old apple tree heavily pruned. He must have bagged up 10 or so leaf bags with the branches, and it made the best kindling I've ever used. Here's to you, Pops!
How long does it take for prunings to dry out ? I've always just tossed mine in the woods compost pile as I have tons of pine branches that dry pretty quick.
Lookin good. I have an apple tree to prune, I may have to take a cue from you on this one! For a minute I thought you were going to tell us that you got a fine for trimming your tree. Whew, glad that's not the case!
I'll try burning some after a couple of months drying in my garage, the skinny stuff at least. The 1" branches are probably gonna need 6months.
Thanks! I would definitely save your apple tree prunings, smells great in a campfire too. Luckily we can prune no worries, but my neighborhood is subject to fines if one cuts a 4" tree or thicker within 50' of road without HOA board approval $1,000 per tree!
You had said that Mike when we met up. I was surprised to see all the untrimmed logs in your trailer. Good memory of your father!
