Had a dental appointment this morning. Now need to see the periodontist for possible surgery and bone graft. Getting older is such fun.

I got good news today from the urologist. I was expecting it to cost me about $750 to get neutered in a few weeks, but apparently my insurance is covering everything but the copay. They must have changed their policy since when I first read it about 6 months ago, because it was definitely not covered then.

You would think that insurance companies would be offering up those services for free to everyone. Save a fortune in the long run!

You poor bastage. I don’t envy you one bit. I don’t think I even opened my eyes the whole time, my wife was there just laughing at me. That needle only hurts a little bit for a minute or two to start things off on the right foot.

In 1992 I had my tubes tied & cauterized. If I paid anything it was a minor deductible. Actually I think I had to pay part of the anesthesiologist because they made more than the going rate and he sent a separate bill.

Insurance would pay for the surgery, or having a kid, but not BCP :loco: .

I'll take ANY amount of discomfort / pain to eliminate the possibility of starting over again!

Last year when I was with my last employer, I called Blue Cross to investigate it, and it was definitely going to be out of pocket with them. Makes absolutely no sense! You would think that they would just start offering it to people with already established families. I figure it will be maybe $1000 for them total for three visits. With all the appointments for a pregnancy, that is probably 3% of the cost!

Although I agree with most of that, there is a small flaw - some people shouldn't breed, ever. I happen to be one of them that is smart enough to realize it.

I just had a tooth extraction and a bone graft done yesterday. It wasn't all that bad other than the bill. I'm hoping the dental benefits I pay for will reimburse me for a good portion of it.

Actually I was quite surprised at how little force it seemed to take to pull the tooth out.

Good hearing it wasn’t that bad. I don’t have dental insurance so I’ll have to see how high the bill is going to be before I move ahead. Might have to do this in stages.

    Our best defense
    by Jason Nelson

Years ago I was on jury duty. I spent three days in a courtroom listening to arguments in a civil case. The plaintiffs charged the defendant with damaging their livelihood and business by claiming to own part of what they thought was their property. The plaintiffs were humble people whose attorney was pretty disorganized and wore a rumpled suit. The defendant was a confident businessman, and he had a slick lawyer. The evidence required us to render a verdict in favor of the defendant. But we felt bad about it. We had sympathy for the plaintiffs, but their case was weak. In our deliberations, we noted that the defendant mounted a good defense because he had a better lawyer.

I have been in court other times. I was called to testify in a custody case for a student I was counseling. I had to appear before a judge to get disability benefits. I don’t like courtrooms because I’m afraid if I say the wrong thing, I will get myself in trouble. According to the letter of the law, we are always in God’s courtroom. And we should be uneasy about being there if we choose to represent ourselves. “But if anybody does sin, we have an advocate with the Father—Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world” (1 John 2:1,2)
