Yep, I have though about that Dewalt, as I am already deep vested in several other 20 volt Dewalt power tools and batteries. It might be the smart thing to do.

I have an Echo PAS 225SB attachment series. The powerhead is great and the pole saw is an excellent attachment. I have been using it for several years cutting on heavy brush and autumn olive around our place. Lots of options with this unit and the price and reliability is excellent.

I have the DeWalt 20v one and like it. Not super powerful but works for small limbs. I was impressed with it for less than $150. With center extension its 12' long.
I already had 3 batteries so bought the bare tool.

Ive been using them for many years and they cant be beat IMO/IME. Cordless circular saw accidentally fell from a high two story house and it still worked!

Same here. I store mine in the box. My only gripe is the bar oil leaks out. I have that end wrapped in a plastic bag.

You guys may have convinced me to get a Dewalt one if these days, since I am already vested in batteries, etc. I have had pretty good luck with all of my other Dewalt tools. I was just adding it up, and I already have: Skill saw, Saws-all, drill, screw guns, grinder, and jig saw, and another tool, (can't think of the name) (maybe it's called a multi-tool), that has a funny blade that goes side to side which is very handy for cutting in tight places.

I have the same. I call it the oscillating saw. Most of the older ones are the old 18 volt

Here are some pics Lastmohecken IMG_3592.JPG IMG_3593.JPG IMG_3594.JPG Its roughly 12' long. Three sections which lock together and theres a screw cap that threads over them. Simple and quick to assemble. The middle section doesnt need to be in for use. It is somewhat wobbly when fully assembled and reaching for a cut but does fine.
I wouldnt try to cut a limb over 2" even though itll do bigger. The chain speed isnt as fast as a gas one.
My gripes are the trigger mechanism is tricky and the bar oil leaks out when not in use.
Heres the thread i had posted back in the Spring.

They're pretty tough. I have dropped some of my Dewalt tools, and even had the battery fly off when they hit the ground and still no damage, just slide the battery back on and go back to work. The first time that happened to me, I figured I had ruined it for sure, but did not.

I guess I will have to wait a while, before I get a pole saw. As I went a little overboard today and bought a Stihl 462 CM with a 28" bar. :)

Nice and congrats! I almost bought a 462 this week as well. Still considering the 661 though...

Not familiar with that model. Something to look into though.

Brand new...fuel injected. State of the art. Some threads on it in the OPE section of the forum. I think its only a bit more expensive than a 462. Thats if you can find one. Havent seen one in Connecticut at four different Stihl dealers.

Duuuuuuuuude....that thing is sweet! Unlikely I could find one locally (not that there is anything 'local' where I live) and the Stihl website even shows it as unavailable.

Still....the weekend snow caused them to close the forest road gate to my primary scrounging site so I may hold off a while and look into the 500i a bit more. Maybe they'll be available before the snow melts.

I got the 362 a few months ago, and just recently bought a 261 CM.

Some dealers do have them, as I was surprised to see one on the shelf, today, when I bought the 462. One reason I went ahead and bought the 462, is it's the only one I knew of on the any dealer's shelf in neck of the woods. So, I decided to just go ahead and get it, before someone bought it out from under me, but who knows? They may have had more in the back.
