I finally got around to splitting and stacking some 20-30+" diameter red oak rounds that I cut in the the Spring of '19. Even though the rounds were stacked on pallets off the ground, the sapwood was completely punked and the heartwood was saturated wet. I got some quality time with the MS461 and maul got them into quarters and Echo/Bearcat finished the job. Over the last two weekends, I think I've managed to put up about a cord. It will be nice burnin' down the road.
Nice work Mike! One of my gripes with oak is the sapwood punking out if you let it sit too long. Good reminder for me to get some rounds i have on hand SS soon.
It annoys me to no end. I wound up trimming it off with an axe as I was S/S. It's just wasted space in my stove and so messy.
