This guy was hanging out just 10 feet from my stove. I was filling the stove and glanced out the window and WOAH! I could almost reach out and touch this guy. Now we normally get all sorts of small birds in the local trees and I see hawks, buzzards, whatnot flying around the fields but not like this perched in the yard. Anyone know what this guy/gal is?
I was going to say coopers too. We have those and red tails. Once we had a cooper come in and take a meal from below our bird feeder. He couldn’t see us watching him but we were about 5-6’ away.
That is why they call them bird feeders, they are for all birds not just little birds. I tell my wife that all the time makes her
My fancy iPhone app where you can upload a pic says it’s 80% chance Sharp shinned, 20% Coopers. Moms birding friend says Coopers Hawk. I’ll read descriptions and look at pics in books all day long, comparing to my pic and not come to any definitive conclusion - sigh. lf I had to bet I’d say Coopers as Sharp-Shinned are smaller, this guy impressed me by his size.
Chaz does not like feeding the blue jays. Don't blame him. They can drain the feeder in nothing flat.
