Definitely softwood. We got around 40 pieces out of each log after running them through the splitter. Took 3 guys to load each piece on the splitter.
I meant to add that it was taken down during last winter by the local electrical utility as part of their every 5 year tree maintenance schedule. It was right up against a major power line.
Cant beat that! Gotta love a score that big where someone else fell it. All benefit, little liability.
