Must be pretty cramped for a pool table!

Yeah, find a used insert to help save space. or maybe one of those tiny stoves. Wasn't there a Canadian member that had the VL-17?

Nobody in Canada uses tiny stoves...they need something with some firepower!

Room is 20x20. Think 2-car garage.

Whomever was postulating about it might not be insulated, far as I know it is not, I said that in the first post. Except for a little above ceiling, the attic continues overhead there. That's not hard to blow in.

With the wood on the walls, I have no idea if insulation in the walls is even possible. I don't know much at all about construction, how to tell. I mean, there may not be hardly any room behind the wood for insulation. If so, could add another wall and put insulation in? I assume so.

There is a door in the west wall, next to the fireplace, which I use constantly to enter/exit the house; it is the primary door. There is another door in the north wall, it is never used. There is a window a/c in the north wall and a 3x3 window in the south wall.

As for cold in winter, if there is no fire going, I assume that since cold air sinks, heck, the open chimney lets cold air in, it's a direct shot. If no fire, would closing the damper matter? Next time I want a fire, I'd probably forget!

What they did to remodel... took an existing open-ended garage (with no garage door) and bricked it in and put in a fireplace. Then added carpet to the floor. Everything else was there. It's hot in summer and cold in winter. Since...it's not insulated.

No, 10x14 is the patio slab out the back door where I said I have also contemplated adding another room.

LOL, they certainly got some cold there. Coldest I've ever witnessed... 27 below. The entire country was frozen over.

Well Yawner its been a year now and I for one would sure like to know just what you did to address the heat situation in this room.

You had a few suggestions here, did you follow up on any of them?

Put in a ceiling fan. Added some insulation in the attic. Sealed the two doors better. Improvements. An insert would probably totally solve it but haven't done that.
