PXL_20201121_224111063.jpg Well, it's back in the house......kinda where it should be. That is one gynormous mother!!!
The good Lord has been very good to us this year, mild temps for the most part this season. A company who stood behind a 5 year old product and went above and beyond my expectations. A whole year to basically seperated myself (my family) from society and reconnect on what's really important (thanks covid-19)
This morning we we're fortunate enough to prepare meals for 30 elderly people in an assisted living community, hand out another box of "Thanksgiving in a box", followed by hosting 10 people living in a transitional living facility following addiction or mental health issues for a Thanksgiving meal prepared by our senior group and served by our teen group. The wife is sacked out sleeping, I'm exhausted but I am thrilled to sit here and gaze across the countertop of dirty dishes and cookware and just be thankful for all we have been blessed with.

Full belly and a warm bed await, that chunk of soapstone filled steel will be right there tomorrow!!

This the season folks!! Slow down and enjoy!
    Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas!

Well, a real man would just put a circle of rocks on the floor under the chimney thimble and burn away......

    :rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol::rofl: :lol:

When I spoke with Lorin it sounded like they were making progress and were paying attention to the stoves there for repair. Hopefully it will not be too much longer now.

And here I am hoping for milder weather to ride my new bike :) Two pastimes in direct conflict. No problem though, we ride all year and well down into the 20's F as long as the roads are clear. We burn all year too, at least when we have a stove 'cause I am not as brave as you regarding the circle of rocks.... :D

Picked my new Ideal Steel up last night just before they closed. It's still in the back of my truck, I'll strip the excess weight off tomorrow and should be doing the install Saturday. No real cold in the forecast, but Ill still be glad to turn off the propane furnace.

Welcome to the thread VTW! (see, you already have an acronym) Also, big welcome to FHC! Have you been following this thread for a while? I'm a Massachusetts guy living on the NH border below Keene. VT is my state of preference for riding my motorcycles all of the Spring/Summer/Fall and then skiing there at Okemo, (mainly) Stratton but over the years I've been to almost all of them.
The P&H Diner in Wells River is my fav Truck Stop/Dinner and I'm a big fan of DOT's in Wilmington.

Anyway, just a mention. WE WANT PICS! I think everyone will agree with me on that. Welcome VTWoodchuck. :D:thumbs::dex:

Curious as to what kind of life everyone is getting out of their CAT. I’m on year 3 and it’s not working very well. I’m burning 4 year old wood. Dry dry easy to light ash. Started the year out I noticed I was having to run inside temp higher to get it to light. Last night I ran it up to 900 on the cat probe and it still stalled. Btw I’ve cleaned a few times a year with white vinegar and distilled water. Just did a soak this past Sunday. Just curious how everyone else is getting along. I haven’t called Woodstock yet but going to.

I've been lurking for awhile, I've actually read through this entire thread (I've had time, been recovering from back surgery).

I went to high school in Ludlow and have spent quite a lot of time on Okemo in my teens. P&H is just one exit north of me on I91.

I'll try to get some pictures of the stove as I take it apart and put it back together, Its marked as a model 210a, so I'm pretty sure its a "gen 2" IS, in my quick once over in the back of the truck this morning it looks like there are some differences with the sled and heat shielding in comparison to the earlier units.

As I said earlier, its replacing an old Dutch West medium catalytic that was to small for the space, and needed more work than I could justify for a stove I didn't like. I'm looking forward to a better quality stove that doesn't need to be pushed so hard to keep up, and has a fire box larger than a shoe box.

    thanks for the welcome

About 3 years is what people are getting out of them. (disappointing as that is, my opinion) I think it should bee better with "Dry dry" wood, but maybe not. Most of the folks on here are burning 24X7 with them, so maybe your life will be longer with less than 24X7 but I'm just saying it depends on hours burned to I would think.

^^^ I agree I burn about 5,000 hours a year so I figure in my experience they are good for about 12,500 hours of use. Slocum
