Really looking good. the sifting of the old material is a pain but so worth it in the long run.

Thank you. I'll be happy to share that sentiment about sifting after I'm done with the next 4 beds. :D

I upgraded my sifting/screening operation. Added a second sheet, turned them 90 degrees, added 2 more pieces of 2x4, and now it covers the entire top of the garbage can.

Filled up the 3rd bed and it took a bit less time although I didn't notice the actual time.

So I went for a walkabout around the property today and saw that the garlic I planted has already sprouted! It's unseasonably warm today - hit the 70s - and from what I've read it's ok to leave the sprouts as is as opposed to snipping them off.

On a related note my knot pot has also sprouted a garlic!

I got my garlic planted last Sunday before it started raining again. Today I got daffodil and crocus bulbs planted. I think it will rain again tomorrow.

Nice! I planted some bean sprouts that were sprouting out of the compost pile. I ate some of the sprouts but then found more and decided to plant them indoors. They are growing like they are on STEROIDS I tell you. I also planted two carrot cutoffs...and the leafy part has shot up and double in height overnight. It's crazy.

Here are a few pics. I think this is a good sign that my compost is pretty healthy......

Nice looking raised beds. I was going to do something along that line this fall, but I ended up using the timbers as runners for a new wood pile... Oh well, there's next year.

Thanks! I hope they last a while. I think they will. I probably could have lined them with landscape fabric but I'll see how this goes. I still have to build 2 more and fill 3 more but I ran out of compost that was ready....so I'll wait till spring. I have my seeds all ready to go (brandywine pink, beefsteak, roma, broccoli) and have the beds that I want to plant the romas in ready to go.
