Had a little time today, so thought I would get some basic things done on the custom Member Designed saw.

The first picture is all the tools required to completSeal drivers and plastic mallete the lower end build.
Left to right top to bottom:
    • Husqvarna Crankshaft Installation tool
    • Metric wrenches for crankshaft installation tool
    • Plastic mallet and seal drivers
    • 4mm T handle
    • 3/8 ratchet
    • 4mm allen socket
    • Razor bladt for trimming case gasket
    • Metric Torque wrench.
Second picture is all the parts required top to bottom:
    • New OEM crankcase with bearings already installed note how the bearing on the flywheel side of the case sits deeper in the case than the clutch side.
Third picture is new OEM crankshaft, case gasket and new crankshaft seals
The fourth picture is everything set out for the assembly note also the two small silver cylinders in the gasket, they are the crankcase locating pins which do two things help hold the gasket in place and insure that the case goes together square.

    OK, some progress made:
    Installed new crankshaft
Buttoned up the case with new gasket and torqed case bolts
    New seal installed Flywheel side
    Installed tank/handle unit.
That is all for now until some minor parts come in and we know what carb we will be using.

Looking good. Are all the parts going on the saw gonna be New ? Or will some parts be used (clutch, oil pump, flywheel, etc).

There will be some used parts probably oil pump, coil and flywheel. Rest are new. If I have good used I cannot see running the cost up by using new when used will do. I want people to be able to afford the saw. Using all new parts no matter how custom the build would make the saw cost more that going out and buying a new one in a box.

That's what I figured. If all new, it was gonna be an outrageous price.

I'm all for good used parts. Makes the price much more gooder ;)

well, when you figure out that there are almost 100 screws of various sizes in the saw at an average of $1.34 each, you can see how fast it mounts up. There are certain things that I will not use used parts for, any of the safety features are always new, on this saw carb is new as are crank, C/P, cases, covers, tank/handle, starter, bearings/seals and intake tract.

Bottom line is: once you start, tune and make a couple cuts to verify the tune, everything in the saw is used.

OBTW XPW 51.4mm pistons use two rings, I will install the piston with both rings. If you and your porter want to run a single ring that is your decision. Also used a gasket because if the saw is ported then they will either nix the gasket or cut the base and besides Mdavlee likes gaskets!

Top end is on but do not have a top handle for it yet, so can't hold it tight enough to get a good compression reading, but it is up there! Tomorrow Vac-pressure tests and set the flywheel gap and finish up the wiring.
