OH NICE! I'm ordering this one next week. I'm really excited about it. Glad to hear that you like it.
Sailrmike Have you stuffed the stove N.S. yet? The HT2000 in my group gets loaded that way every time. Much denser load, and longer burn time. Sinngetreu Sounds like you have a nice new toy heading your way. May I ask where you are ordering from? Where are you in Ia?
Yep, I'm excited. I'm planning on ordering it from their factory store. They have free shipping. Just need to figure out how to get it up to the house and down in the basement. I'm north east of Algona a ways. Not too far from the MN boarder. Where are you at?
Not yet, just easing her into service. Although, last night would have been a good opportunity to try a big n/s load, we actually got below freezing
Let us know if you try NS load. Curious on your results. We see 700 plus STT easy and regular on the 2000 model. Guessing the 3000 will be similiar?
The off gassing wasn't too awful, I just did 2 small fires to get the stove up to about 300°F. Then gradually did bigger fires, that's when the off gassing got noticable. I turned on a nearby vent fan, and cracked a window for an hour or so. A little graphite powder in the hinges and door handle threads. I would recommend checking your door latch adjustment after a week of regular burning. I noticed that mine was getting loose when the stove was at operating temp. Made the adjustment, used nickel based anti-seize when reinstall roll pin.
Good call! For anybody not familiar, most anti-seize, especially nickel based, will withstand internal firebox temps...I use it on all internal fasteners whenever something needs to come apart. Might not be a good idea on a cat stove though...I dunno.
This is why this forum is awesome. I know about putting anti seize on stainless steel, but honestly, I would not have thought of it on a stove. Love these little tid bits of knowledge.
So I did my largest load yet last night. I reloaded on a large coal bed, 400°F STT ( a little higher than I would've liked), ( 8 ) 16" red and white oak splits n/s. I got it cruising around °650 F STT and had a nice pile of coals 11 hrs later, clean glass too!! Fully stuffed, I don't see 700°F STT being very hard to get to with this stove. I couldn't be happier with performance and heat output.
2,400 sq ft, LR/DR have 12' ceilings, so that's like having a few more sq ft to heat. This stove makes a lot of convection, even without a blower (mine is coming Monday!)
