Good to know! We have it in a room that is about 600 sq ft with 10' ceilings so it should not have any trouble keeping up. We will probably close the door on one end of that room and leave the other end open. I was using rough math of 1 to 1.5 bags per day. May have overshot but like you said too many pellets is never possible.

I received an e-mail from Greene Team the other day saying they were shipping to the local Lowe's. I won't pay the price for them but I called HD to see if they were selling yet. I got the "We sell pellets year round" thing and asked price and manufacturer. They only have Fireside right now at $239. They do expect to get another (MWP) brand in soon. $239, ouch.

If that's the case then Sib has the better deal right now for $224 plus a small delivery fee. Worked out to $232 delivered into my garage. All set for the year. But might grab another ton of loose bags here and there if the mood strikes.

I'm a vet so I get 10% off at HD. Last year they delivered 3 or more tons free, so if they do that this year I'm looking at $215.10 delivered.

If TSC are MWP in your area, I'd take the MWP over MC any day

Interesting! The TSC's in Colorado and Wyoming are running the sale out here too. So many national companies split sales into national regions (not stove items, retail and grocery shopping.). Also would they private label the pellets from the east and ship them all the way here?

Looks like there is a pellet mill in N Colorado and another tiny one in N Wyoming, both make softwoods-beetle kill pine. I am thinking I should go for the TSC pellets since they are hardwood. Is that a good idea?

The closest store is over 100 miles from here. I will see if they will take my deposit over the phone if any of you think its a good idea. Or, go with the Rocky Mountain Pellets available here locally, again they are softwood, pine.

    thanks!

Wow, if I follow that math, adjusting for my longer colder winter in Wyoming, I come up with almost 8 tons. Is that possible or am I missing something? My shoulder seasons will be april/may, and sep/oct, and I will likely have it running at night and early mornings through the summer.

Maybe I need two stoves to keep my house at atleast 78*. Or will they just turn eachother off when the thermostat senses heat from the other stove? (78* is for medical reasons).

I would go with the pine pellets. My stove and me both love softwoods. More heat, less ash. Those Rocky Mountain Pellets seem to get very favorable reviews, too.

I was thinking the same thing. Truthfully, I've never burned either, but I do see a lot of favorable comments about MWPs, not so much for the MCs.

IHP told me he had very good results from the latest MC.

THANK YOU! I needed an excuse to avoid sending my husband on several 200 mile round trips to purchase and haul 8 pallets home. I will pool with 2 other acquaintances for a bulk discounted price hopefully on the Rocky Mountain Pellets 20 miles from here. I cant tell for sure but it appears the gross profit is pretty low for the retailers so there many not be a bulk discount. Either way dear husband that took up too many of my chores when I became handicap will not have the extra driving to Rawlins.

So thanks to this thread I stopped in to Tractor Supply to see the details of this sale.
Good thing I did! I was able to buy 3 tons for 225. Here is the best part. I can pick them up in any quantity I desire, and only pay for one ton at a time ( there was a deposit). So for all of us that cannot haul a ton a t a time this is a sweet way to get the discount.
I grabbed 25 bags today and for sure will not wait until the Oct 1 deadline to pick them up.
Ps they were Tractor Supply badged pellets.

I attached the barcode, maybe you can decipher where they came from.

Considering I am saving about $65 a ton I would be very pleased if they were MWP.

Actually, I was able to find that it is indeed MWP. Those puppies should burn just fine :fire:
