That's nice that you live very close to where you grew up. I did the same, moved back to our home place and live down the hill from my boyhood home.
Just for some junk storage. It was sold just a little bit ago so no telling what the new owners will do. I may go talk to them.
Yeah, first here the a yooper then back here. But in my heart I'm still a yooper and wish I'd never left.
This was fun. These are some things I still have: This was our entertainment before the TV came in '57. Sat night was Gun Smoke followed by the Grand Ole Opry. Got these for Christmas one year. Mom said we were flat broke, got them with S&H Greenstamps. My sister and I had our own roller rink in the basement, before it was finished. Advanced technology came in '61 w/transistor radios. It still works. I am so glad I grew up in these times.
For awhile there, Burger Chef had that "fixings" bar....Set up with lettuce, onions, pickles, tomatos, and all the stuff a customer could ever want to put onto your burger for toppings. Remember that? They got rid of it in the 70's...probably for health reasons since it usually turned into one great big mess!
We had one of the last 2 Ho jo restaurants in the USA. Closed just a couple years ago. Hadn’t eaten there in many years. Used to go have some beers there until the trannies took over.
Ho Jo's were at every rest stop on the PA Turnpike when I was a kid. My parents hated it, but I loved the cafeteria food!
I remember as a kid a bunch of us had something in New Hampshire somewhere. We stayed at a Ho Jo for a couple nights and ate there once or twice. We were with a couple dads. I don’t recall them being excited about it. We had Chuck E. Cheese the next night. We might have been 10 at the time.
