My youngest daughter and I added a little more to the stacks this weekend. I cut, hauled and split and she is my official stacker. The last stack on the left is hickory and oak. We also brought in the first stack on the right which is 2 year old red oak that needed a little more splitting and to be out in the sun for another year. We had a good time this weekend working together and having some play time too. Great weather too!
Looks great. So neat and tidy too. Did you train her to be a good stacker or is she a natural? I'm taking notes.
Hickory is top dog, IMO. Nice stacks, she earned pizza for supper with that good stacking job, Looks like several varieties there ?
Well manicured place you've got, those stacks look great. Looks like you and your daughter have been busy....
Sounds like great time with your girl Fan. I'll bet you guys get talkin' and before you know it... lots of hauling and stacking has happened. Perfect day...
Thanks for the nice daughter compliments guys... She has two rules to stacking... Keep the front edge straight and the splits level. Close.... chili dogs over the fire pit. Watched a movie later that night and had strawberry shortcake. My stacks have a little of everything, cherry, sassafras, sycamore, maple, big tooth aspen, tulip etc... Whatever comes down or needs to come down finds it way to the stacks. This spring we have been focusing on oak since we had two big storm damaged ones. My recent splitter purchase has me cutting and splitting stuff that I would have reluctantly chosen when hand splitting. Now everything is up for grabs.
Fanatical1, congratulations on having a daughter that loves to help and is also very good at it. Love your driveway too.
Pefect the way you have that stacked for seasoning and it sounds like you give the 2 best wood to burn plenty of time so when you burn it you get max heat. Do you top cover any of your ricks ? Good deal on your partner A+
I have some covered with big slabs of bark at the moment. You can see it if you look close. I would like to find some of that heavy roofing rubber material, but no luck yet.
