big ol maple

    Me and a friend took down a big silver maple at my moms house..i did the ground work...ben is the pro climber:dex:....i was a big un...here are some pics....btw..the 441c pulled the 28" full comp just fine:smoke:

    The only thing i didnt like was i didnt feel like it oiled all that well...might try using a 50/50 mix bar oil and canola...or mite have HO oiler installed...

    That's quite the tree. Congrats! :thumbs:

    I noodled about a half cord of maple today with my 441 and a 25" bar. I have no problems with the oiler on that saw. I have my oiler turned up to the max by the dealer when I complained about it initially.

    Thing I love about maple is the quick seasoning. I would take this wood almost over any other given the seasoning times. Not the highest btu, but it's quick to process and seasons really quickly. Some of the better wood is a pain to deal with...especially the big rounds that we all drool over. I can noodle it so quick and it checks and turns gray so fast, I like it better than oak in a lot of ways.

    You may need 1.5 times the maple to get the same output as oak, but for me, I can process much faster than oak...easier on chains too!
