I have to go pick up my boat from the dealer this morning and winterize it. I just shrink wrap it and back it into the yard though. I need to drop an EAB killed ash before the boat goes in the yard though.

I wont know until I have it stacked, but I think I have enough red maple shoulder wood for next year. Once everything from out front goes into the shed I am going to move next years wood out of the tree line and out front and make sure I am good.

Theres a few more dead ash trees just beyond my yard. Now that the ground cover is gone I can take a walk and see if they are easily accessible as well.

Finally built a firewood holding bin in the boiler room yesterday. Should have done that a long time ago. But the basement remodel made it a necessity. No more firewood, dust, mess, anywhere but boiler room. Now just slide the window open and toss it in the bin. Should hold enough for two to three days of burning when it’s cold. 14C1F115-B947-422C-BCA1-DDD47F914C3A.jpeg Also added a 14” x 20” wall vent with 1” filter at top of wall to allow heat out of room and into the hallway and staircase while filtering the air.

Time to go move more firewood under cover. You hoarders have a great day.

Is the reason why you installed it with the louvres facing upward because it is high on the wall? We would do that "back in the day, when I had to work for a living" (have I mentioned lately that I'm retired now? :p ) in order to hide seeing past the grille. In this case, it helps obscure the filter. I can't tell if it is high on the wall as it looks like there may be a chair back next to it in the pic.

    Nice!

It is high on the wall. Right up close to the ceiling in boiler room and hallway where heat goes to. They are facing up because it is not forced air. Just a gravity vent. I figured heat rises so I’ll put them facing up. The face of louvres has two locking slides that allow you to swing it open and install a 1” filter inside it. Nice. Enjoy retirement! About 8-9 years to go here.

Yup! Installed a number of those, both high and low wall-as well as ceiling, back in the days of HVACR!

8-9 more years to go here for retirement. What are you doing to stay out of trouble and keep busy? I have several hobbies I hope to enjoy when the time comes. I’m enjoying them now but not as much time as I would like for them.

@campinspector did a refit on the boiler room door to make it a little more dustproof in the rest of the building. Now I can clean (do I want to?) and dust and it should stay nice for awhile. One of my retirement projects is to go through everything in the house and clean, recycle, send to thrift shop, sell or trash. Not a project I am really enthusiastic about.

First and foremost, we do whatever we want, when we want. The summers are spent at the lake and winters right here. Summers, no internet/TV and its great! I (we) are actually looking for a year around residence on the lake. May have found one this late fall but it'll be spring before the seller is ready. My first choice was sold as I didn't enter a bid on it..........99 lbs wasn't on board with that one.

I know, I know....should have got it anyway. But, you know how it goes, right? :D
