Are There Any Outdoor FA Woodburners Left?

    I've been heating with a Lil House Heater for a few years now. It's been an experience. I would like to find a small, forced air outdoor burner to replace it. Maybe something a bit more durable. What is left to be had?

    It looks like the EPA standards put many manufacturers out of business. I don't see any place to buy a Shelter outdoor burner and they used to be in many home improvement stores.

    Is there anything left?

    Nope...only one FA indoor furnace left as of now...the Kuuma...no outdoor units that I know of.
    Well, Shelter still has the SF1000 for sale, but it will soon be banned as they cheated on the EPA test and there's no way they'll be able to pass legitimately.
    You DO NOT want one anyways...worst wood furnace made in a long time.
    Oh, and Drolet has an indoor model coming out at the end of the month too...

    A lot of Canadians run an outdoor wood boiler and then pump the water through a radiator looking thing in their HVAC ducts. You can still find outdoor boilers. Your regular wall thermostat simply runs the blower on your central furnace.

    OutdoorForced Air is a different ball game than a OWB. Never were a real popular option doe to the size of ducting required. Plus a pretty good sized blower to move the air.

    Could you do a Kuuma in an enclosed, and insulated area (Small attached building), with duct work passing through exterior wall and into your indoor ductwork?

    Don't know why you would want one. But, make sure you insulate it well (ductwork to house) in order to prevent heat loss.

    Remember, you'll need to open a fair sized hole in your house for the ductwork to tie in as opposed to a couple1 1/4' holes for OWB lines.

    In the central hvac world these outdoor package units have been around forever. The supply and return ducts go outside to this big furnace on the ground. It’s not unheard of to have the furnace outside but certainly less efficient than an indoor furnace.

    Haven't seen any for sale recently though (at least a couple years now...maybe 2017?)
