Saw an ad for wood near my house. From the pics I thought it was silver maple. Turns out it's oak. Not sure if red or white but either is fine by me. There is a lot left but it was very tough access and I don't have a tonne of room to dedicate for 2-3 years of drying. Who knows? Maybe I'll get more.
Fairly common to see, but not to scrounge. I live in a city so most people have either junk and brush posted online and the good stuff gets taken by the arborist because many have firewood businesses too. I might go and get some more tomorrow. Didn't bring my splitter, which would make it easier to make some big rounds easier to manage.
If knot free it should split easily with a maul or sledge and wedge. Over 16" i half for ease of handling. Fresh cut its some HEAVY stuff! Go get more and good luck!
Ok. Got another load today. Still more left. It's nice stuff but gotta work for it. In the guy's backyard, which is a steep slope. Then lugging rounds and splita through a tight space between the homes. My wife came today to help, which made it easier. That and I brought the Fiskars today which made it easier as well
I see what might be a dolly on top of your splits. Is it comparable to this? I have one that's similar and It holds a fair amount of wood, and rolls easily with the wide tjres. J
