    Let's hope that this was the only nest. That said, they can't survive the cold winters of the northern states.

    I ran into a yellow jackets in the ground next to a tree i was felling a couple Summers ago. They werent too happy with the 460 running next to their nest. Got stung a few times.
    They can stay on the West coast. Maybe a can of Raid will be standard in my chain saw toolbox???

    Which northern states ?
    They're not so sure about Washington and Oregon, at least along the temperate coast. If they're finding queens in May they overwintered unless they're fresh off the boat.
