The wife and I took a ride up to the tunnel of trees, on the way home we stopped in Bellaire to Shorts brewery. I had the Huma Lupa licious IPA, she had a seltzer of some sort. Short's Brewing Company - Michigan Craft Beer An old friend retired from there last year as their beer historian.
I saw Trillium and was wondering where you got that around here then re-read and assume you got it from Boston. Good stuff, my son lives close to the Canton brewery. If you get up to that area regularly check out Treehouse Brewery, my favorite craft beer. I usually can't get out of there with less then four cases. Treehouse gets real busy and sells out fast so I plan ahead before I make that stop. It's worth the effort though.
I’ve had a number of Tree House offerings and they are very good. I do think I prefer Trillium though I wouldn’t say no to either!
Treehouse is 10 minutes from my house and I’ve never gone to buy beer. I’ve had their beer from friends, and I did a tour for job purposes. Stone Cow in Barre MA is also good.
I've heard of those lines and would never ever be part of them. Plenty of really good beer out there.
There’s many choices of good craft beers available at local packies. Why anyone would willingly choose to wait in a line for multiple hours, be limited on how much they can buy, risk waiting only for them to sell out, have to buy cans, and pay $5 can is beyond me. Treehouses parking lot is always chuck full though and they just did a large expansion so there must be plenty of people with disposable income to sell to.
The guys who started Treehouse are pretty young. Id say late 30's early 40's now. The reason they chose Charlton was because of the water. It had a certain mineral profile they were looking for. One of the owners Damien, told us he has never tried a Treehouse beer. He seemed like the health conscious, earthy crunchy type. Very business oriented. One of the other owners was the "chemist"/master brewer. I forgot where the third guy fit in. Damien had a gym setup in the brewery for him to use. Seemed a little elitist to be honest. I believe they paid off the first loan in 2-3years, and were doing the large expansion with no loan. Not surprising given the price of the beer, and not paying any distributing costs.
I’ve tried a few treehouse. Just another brewery in my opinion. Not worth me wasting a day to drive there, wait in line, and then drive home. I’d rather go to the package store and grab a 4 pack of too juicy or sip of sunshine. Or go to the brewery near me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Guys from Treehouse Brewery paid for the new building in cash from their beer sales. They do have some great beers. I personally feel they are better than many other breweries. I enjoyed the trip up there and taking a look around the grounds. Very nice place. They have a very loyal following. Very interesting story about the water.
